At the recent G20 Religious Forum, it was announced that Christianity in Iraq is on the verge of extinction. Iraq's Christians once numbered around 1.5 million, but that number has fallen to less than 200,000 as Islamic extremist violence continues, which has rapidly increased since the US military intervention began in 2003. Thousands of religious minorities have been killed and enslaved over the past decade as a result of these acts of violence, as well as many Iraqis who have fled their homeland. It is also having a negative impact on neighboring countries such as the Middle East, Africa and Asia.

Lord, protect our brothers and sisters who are struggling to keep their faith in Iraq. Even in the threat of life, the full presence of the Lord cover their hearts and situations. Please calm down the violence and guide Christians not only in Iraq but also in neighboring countries so that they can be at peace. Please open the way so that the water stream of the gospel will not be cut off by these acts of violence and will be preached to the ends of the earth.
